Managing the foods you eat is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, especially while recovering from stoma surgery. This is especially true in the first few days and weeks after your operation.
Please note that if you suffer from other medical conditions, such as renal or cardiac problems or diabetes, or are taking medication, you should obtain additional dietary guidance from your doctor. Returning to a normal healthy diet is important following surgery, however, there are a few foods that may result in an increase odour, flatus, or risk of blockage. Please discuss dietary guidelines with your stoma care nurse.
